This summary is here to be honest with you, not to replace the full text below. If the two ever disagree, the full text controls.
Majik's Online ("MAJIKS", "the Service", "we", "us") is operated by Magic Unicorn Unconventional Technology & Stuff Inc., doing business as "Majik's Studio", an independent software company based in Charleston, South Carolina. These Terms govern your use of majiks.online and the public rights registry served at majiks.media. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with a parent or guardian's permission, and you need to be 18 or older (or have a parent handle it) to make purchases.
Accounts are created through Unicorn Commander, our single sign-on (SSO) provider powered by Keycloak. You can sign up with Google, Microsoft, or email and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.
MAJIKS is a music streaming and ownership marketplace. Listeners can discover, stream, and buy music. Creators can publish, price, and sell their tracks under tiered licenses. The platform also offers radio stations, playlists, personalized discovery, and a public rights registry (majiks.media) that records works, recordings, and ownership splits.
Play limits are a deliberate part of how MAJIKS works — they turn listening into ownership, and they are disclosed here so nothing surprises you:
Play counts reset on the 1st of every calendar month. Certain editorial content (news and tribute tracks) is exempt from play limits. Tracks you have purchased, and tracks you created, are always unlimited. When you hit a play limit, you can buy the track or wait for the monthly reset.
Paid listener subscriptions are billed monthly (or yearly) through Stripe. Each paid tier includes a monthly music budget — purchase credits that are meant to be spent on tracks — plus streaming-quality and play-limit benefits:
Your monthly budget does not roll over: unused budget is spent for you by auto-purchase (Section 6), and any remainder too small to buy a track expires at the end of the cycle. You can cancel a subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Tracks you bought (including auto-purchased tracks) remain yours after you cancel.
This is the part of MAJIKS most worth reading. On paid listener tiers, unspent monthly budget is automatically spent at the end of each billing cycle on the tracks you played most that month but do not own yet.
How it works, precisely:
If you would rather choose every purchase yourself, spend your budget manually during the month — auto-purchase only ever spends what you left over. Auto-purchase is part of every current paid listener tier and is also disclosed at subscribe time.
Credits are the platform's prepaid balance: 1 credit = 1 cent (USD). A $1.00 track costs 100 credits. There are two kinds:
Credits are a prepaid, non-refundable balance, are not legal tender, have no cash value, and can only be spent on MAJIKS. Credits cannot be transferred between accounts. Spending credits on a track is a final purchase of a license (Section 8).
MAJIKS is the merchant of record for all transactions on the platform. Track prices are set by creators (minimum $0.50 for card checkout; free tracks are genuinely free). Payment processing is handled by Stripe — we never store your card details. Tracks can be bought individually, in a cart, as part of an album, or with credits.
Tracks are sold under three license types:
Every license is a license, not a transfer of copyright (except as expressly agreed in an exclusive sale). You may not redistribute, resell, or claim authorship of purchased tracks. Because digital purchases are delivered immediately, all sales are final except as described in our Refund Policy or required by law.
You own your music. Publishing on MAJIKS does not transfer copyright to us, and we do not use your uploads to train machine-learning models. By publishing, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, stream, display, distribute, and sell your content on the Service (including the majiks.media registry) for as long as it is published. The license ends when you remove your content, except for licenses already sold to buyers, which survive.
You warrant that you have the rights to what you upload. Uploading content you do not own or control — including unlicensed samples, covers without a license, or someone else's AI output presented as yours — is prohibited. You are solely responsible for clearing rights. You must also accurately disclose AI involvement in your tracks (Section 10).
Publishing tiers: Creator Free ($0 — up to 10 promo + 5 monetized tracks), Artist ($4.99/mo — up to 50 promo + 50 monetized), Producer ($9.99/mo — unlimited), Label ($29.99/mo — unlimited, up to 10 artist profiles). Founder accounts are invite-only. Published tracks remain live if you cancel a creator subscription, but publishing above your tier's caps requires an upgrade.
Revenue and payouts: Creators receive 100% of personal license sales (0% platform fee). On commercial and exclusive licenses the platform retains a 10% fee and the creator receives 90%. Payment-processor fees (Stripe's card/ACH fees) are deducted per Stripe's terms. Payouts are made via Stripe Connect Express; to be paid, you must connect a Stripe account in your creator profile. Tracks whose creator has not connected Stripe cannot be purchased by card checkout. Where a sale nevertheless occurs without a connected payout account (for example credit purchases), the creator's share accrues to their earned balance and is paid out once Stripe is connected.
Splits: where a work has multiple rights-holders, revenue is divided per the splits recorded in the majiks.media rights registry. Keeping registry information accurate is the creators' responsibility.
We may remove content that violates these Terms and will terminate repeat copyright infringers' accounts (see our Copyright & DMCA Policy).
Much of the MAJIKS catalog is AI-generated or AI-assisted, most of it created with the ACE-Step music generation engine, and we believe listeners deserve to know. Our policy is platform-wide honest disclosure:
Legal status note, stated plainly: purely AI-generated material may not qualify for copyright protection in some jurisdictions (including under current U.S. Copyright Office guidance). "Ownership" on MAJIKS means the platform relationship — control, attribution, and revenue under these Terms — and does not guarantee copyright exists in any particular track. Disclosure practices on MAJIKS are designed to align with emerging AI transparency laws (including the EU AI Act and California's AI transparency statutes) as they come into force.
The public rights registry at majiks.media records works, recordings, ownership splits, AI provenance, and provenance certificates (creation metadata and audio fingerprints). Registry entries and provenance certificates are informational records maintained by the platform and its creators; they are evidence, not a legal guarantee of authorship or ownership.
We respond to copyright takedown notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and terminate repeat infringers. The full procedure — including how to send a notice, our designated agent's contact details, and counter-notification — is in our Copyright & DMCA Policy. Copyright notices go to [email protected].
You may not:
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including as part of our repeat-infringer policy. You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion by contacting [email protected]. On deletion, personal data is handled per our Privacy Policy; purchase records and licenses already sold survive, because they document other people's rights.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any track — AI-generated or otherwise — is original or non-infringing in every jurisdiction; commercial licensees are responsible for their own clearance diligence in unusual, high-stakes uses.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Magic Unicorn Unconventional Technology & Stuff Inc. and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits, data, or business opportunity. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Charleston County, South Carolina, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits consumer rights that apply where you live.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or a notice on the platform before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date at the top always tells you when the text last changed.
Questions about these Terms: [email protected] or visit the contact page.
