About This Track
A deeply personal tribute to the neighbor who became family — showing up through COVID, illness, loss, and everything in between with cappuccinos, bacon, gelato, Scooby Snacks, and unconditional love. 'Right next door, that's where angels live.'

The feeling of constant connection with your building partner, even across state lines
Right Next Door is one of the most personal songs in the entire catalog. It's about Aaron's real neighbor — the kind of person who shows up with cappuccino on a Tuesday night when you're sick, a bag of bacon at 11 o'clock because they don't ever stop giving. Through COVID and broken hearts, hospital stays and morphine nights, this neighbor was always just a text away — from the backyard gate to the front porch light, always right next door. They left Dog TV playing for the pups, kept gelato in the freezer, had Scooby Snacks and frozen bananas ready. On the Fourth of July it was fire pit smoke and laughter. 'When we lost our girls, you cried with us / Sweet faces we'll never forget' — they grieved together when the dogs passed. Tomatoes, fudge bars, checking in to make sure everyone's alright. 'Right next door, that's where angels live.' This is a love letter to the kind of neighbor who becomes family.
[Verse 1]
Span a cappuccino on a Tuesday night
When you heard we were sick and you made it right
Paint, guy, COVID, and a broken heart
You showed up before we fell apart
Send him on a roll at 11 o'clock
Bag of bacon, you don't ever stop
From the backyard gate to the front porch light
You were always just a text away
[Chorus]
Right next door, that's where angels live
Giving everything they've got to give
Through the storms and the hospital floor
You were right next door
[Verse 2]
From the backyard gate to the front porch light
You were always just a text away
Right next door, that's where angels live
Giving everything they've got to give
Through the storms and the hospital floor
You were right next door
[Verse 3]
And a bell and softly wagging tails
You lit a mountain, left Dog TV playing
I turned the light on from a thousand miles
He sent me photos made the distance smile
Cause that's your gelato in the freezer
Scooby snacks and frozen bananas
From the fire pit smoke to the Fourth of July
You were always just a doorway
[Chorus]
Right next door, that's where angels live
Giving everything they've got to give
Through the storms and the hospital floor
You were right next door
[Bridge]
When we lost our girls, you cried with us
Sent us through the tears, sweet faces we'll never forget
You said "I knew that" and your heart broke right with mine
After all these years, the best neighbor I ever met
[Final Chorus]
Right next door, that's where angels live
Giving everything they've got to give
Tomatoes, fudge bars, morphine nights
Checking in to make sure we're alright
Through the heartbreak and the healing
Through the laughter and the greeting
Thank God you were right next door
[Outro]
Right next door, that's where angels live
Giving everything they've got to give
Tomatoes, fudge bars, morphine nights
Checking in to make sure we're alright
Through the heartbreak and the healing
Through the laughter and the greeting
Thank God you were right next door
You really are the best
